DuWayne John Williams, (1940)

WILLIAMS, DuWAYNE JOHN, December 23, 1940 – January 4, 2006

LEWISTON, ID – DuWayne John Williams, 65, passed away January 4, 2006 at the Clarkston Care Center of pancreas cancer. D.J., as he was known, was born December 23, 1940 in Malad City, ID, the son of Henry G. Williams and Nina Elaine Johns.

He attended school in Malad, graduating in 1948. He was on the varsity football and boxing teams during his high school years, and worked part time at Crowther Bros. Mill. He loved to hunt and fish. His knowledge of football and baseball players and coaches was the greatest. He was a true Seahawk and Mariner fan.

He served in the Army in 1958-59 with an honorable discharge in 1959. D.J. was baptized and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He married Sharon Seamons in Poctello, ID, February 1, 1960, to which three sons and a daughter were born. They later divorced. He married JoAnn O’Hara in Lewiston, and they later divorced.

D.J. resided in the Lewiston area in the late 60s and early 70s where he was a salesman for Kinney’s and Gregson’s Shoes. He had resided in the Seattle area the past several years where he was employed by the Shiner’s Circus. He traveled to many towns as a pre-sale telemarketer for the circus until ill health forced him to retire. He loved his job and with his wit of talk, could sell anything.

D.J. is survived by two sisters: Shirley J. Byington and Marlene (Marty) Correll of Lewiston; a half-brother Henry Deon and wife Gloria, of Fernley, NV; his children: Kevin Jay, wife Kathy, David John, and Kenneth (Kenny) of Boise; his daughter Betty Elaine Vasquez of Pocatello; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his aunt Alta Hess of Malad who helped raise him and who he loved very much; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents, grandparents and his caretaker of many years, Diane, preceded him in death.

Cremation has taken place and at his request no services will be held. Interment will be held in the spring in Malad at his request.
