DOROTHY LEWIS OWENS

Dorothy Lewis Owens, 89, former Malad resident, passed away on July 4, 2005, at the home of her daughter, DD White, in Island Park.

She was born October 21, 1915, in St. John, Idaho, a daughter of Thomas J. and Martha Thomas Lewis. Dorothy married John Clair Owens October 9, 1937, in Logan, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

She worked for Idaho First National Bank in Pocatello and later sold Real Estate in Blackfoot. Following retirement, Dorothy and John wintered in Arizona and had travelled to many countries. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women, Credit Professionals International and a Real Estate Women’s group. She loved travelling and doing crafts, especially, China painting.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, John; children; Sheridan (Sandy) Owens of Bountiful, Utah; DD (Arlie R.) White of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Island Park, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Elsie Sperry of Malad; Verna Harris of Ogden, Utah; brothers: Thomas H. (Afton) Lewis of Malad; and Gary (Shaunna) Lewis of Arnold, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sue Noall; one great-grandchild; a sister, Anona VanDerHeide; and a brother Boyd Lewis.

Funeral services were held on Saturday July 9, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. Burial followed in the St. John Cemetery.
