Doris Morgan Kay, 80, of Downey, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, in Preston.

She was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Malad, a daughter of Edmond and Catherine Lewis Morgan.  She was raised and educated in Malad.  After graduation, she worked for several years for the J.C. Penney Company.

On Oct. 22, 1947, she married Joseph W. Kay in the Logan LDS Temple.  They moved to Swan Lake and built a home on the Kay Ranch where they lived and worked for 35 years.

After Joe’s death in February of 1982, she sold her home and moved to Downey, where she enjoyed the companionship of many friends and neighbors.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, as well as being involved in the Idaho Farm Bureau, where she served in various offices.  She was also a member of the Idaho Cowbelles, served several years in the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and had been chairman of the Bannock County South Fair.

Doris loved quilting and is known for her many lovely quilts given to various organizations, friends and family.  She had a great love for her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by two daughters; Jeanine (Twayne) Buhler, of Filer; and Marsha (Alex) Inglet of Fairview; six brothers: Lewis (Diane) Morgan of Burns, Ore.; Edmond (Carma) Morgan of Moscow; Bill Morgan of Missoula, Mont.; Gene Morgan of Hermiston, Ore.; Glen (Delores) Morgan of Lewiston; and Cleve (Kay) Lewis of Soda Springs; two sisters: Lydia (Horatio) Thomas of Centralia, Wash.; and Katherine (Terrel) Tovey of Hermiston, Ore; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; a son, Sheldon Kay; one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, Nov. 3, in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel.  Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 North Meadowview, Arimo, on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:30 to 11:45.
