Doris Mae (Jensen) Gould

Doris Mae (Jensen) Gould, of Lander, died at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper on Sunday, March 22, 2009. She was 86 years old. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Todd Sutton. Burial followed the service at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Doris Mae Jensen was born on July 5, 1922, to Henry Andreas Jensen and Elvira Caroline Mortensen Jensen in Holbrook, Idaho. She was one of 13 children. She attended elementary school in Holbrook and high school in Malad, Idaho. She married Merrill Fredrick Gould in Malad in April of 1940. The marriage was later solemnized in Logan, Utah, at the LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous callings throughout her life, from nursery teacher, Relief Society president to her current calling as an LDS ward missionary.
Mrs. Gould was employed at the Wyoming State Training School for 18 years. She started out in the dietary kitchen and then held a supervisory position on one of the cottages. She received many awards while working there.
She was a member of the Lander Valley Medical Hospital Auxiliary for several years, which she enjoyed very much. She also belonged to a quilting group at the church, where many quilts were quilted.
Until moving to Lander in 1964, she was a stay at home mother, helping on the dairy farm and raising her seven children. Mrs. Gould enjoyed her family very much. She loved going to their school functions.
She and Mrs. Gould spent a lot of time traveling in their RV and most times would take two or more of the small grandchildren with them each time. She also loved playing games with the great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gould had many friends who she loved going to concerts and lunch with. She had a special friend in Dorothy, and spent many hours playing Skip-Bo and traveling together. Mrs. Gould and her husband made their homes in Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska and Lander, where she spent the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Merrill and Sharon Gould, Of Logan, Utah; Bruce and Jean Gould, of Preston, Idaho; Dwayne and Patti Gould, Mills, Wyo.; and Kevin Gould, of Gillette; daughters: Marlen and Tuffy Clyde, of Lander; Darlene and Kurt Johnson, of SheridanWyo.; and Karen and Chuck Baker, of Lander; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; two grandsons, Robert Steers and Brian Gould; and several brothers and sisters.
