Dora Thomas
MALAD — Dora Brooks Rose Thomas, 86, of Malad, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1992, in Malad.
She was born Nov. 15, 1905, in Centerville, Utah, a daughter of Alfred and Mary Ann Rose. She moved to Pleasantview, Idaho as a child, where the family had homesteaded a farm. She married Allan Eugene Leavitt, and they were later divorced; she married William Reese Thomas May 2, 1925, in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple in 1965. Mr. Thomas died Dec. 1, 1988.
She had lived in Malad and St. John, and with her husband had farmed in the Daniels area. She enjoyed tatting, and had helped raise several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by two sons, Delbert A. Leavitt and Lamont Thomas, both of Malad; a stepson, William Leon Thomas, California; two daughters, Mrs. Manuel (Marilyn) Mata, and Doreen Thomas, both of Malad; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Darell Lyle Leavitt, and Joe Don Thomas, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel, Bishop Rex Daniels officiating. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad on Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
