Donald Hill passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Manor Care nursing facility in South Ogden after a 16 year battle with a very rare disease.
He was born May 19, 1927 in Malad, Idaho to William Martin Hill and Ruth Abigail Sparks. He grew up on a farm in Holbrook, Idaho, the fourth of eight children.
Don graduated from Malad High School in 1945 and was immediately drafted into the Army where he spent a year training. The following year he spent serving a mission in Virginia and North Carolina.
He married the love of his life, Carol Hansen on December 15, 1950 in the Logan, LDS Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as ward clerk, Sunday School president, teacher, extraction worker and many other callings.
He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 31 years, including 12 years inspecting airplanes and 19 years in Supply.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Ruth Mackey and Leola Eddards; and by two brothers, Frank and Chester Hill.
Surviving are his three daughters, LuAnn Nance, Holbrook, ID; Gayle Landeen (Daniel), Clarkston, WA; and Janet Gregory (Harold), Haysville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Barnes Park LDS Ward at the Flint Street Chapel, 200 North 1275 West, Kaysville.
Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Hyrum Cemetery.
