Dewey H. Sweeten, (1920)

SWEETEN, DEWEY H., September 24, 1920 – February 2, 2004

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away at home surrounded by his loving family February 2, 2004. Born September 24, 1920 in Holbrook, ID to Warren and Lila Howard Sweeten.

He enjoyed the outdoors, horses, hunting, sports, music and cowboy boots. Dewey was a cowboy and a dreamer. He had a great love for our country serving in the Maritime Service as an officer for four years during World War II.

He married his sweetheart Doris Tarbet, December 9, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than being with those he loved. Although he was big in stature he was kind and gentle. His influence and example will live on in the lives of his posterity.

He was a successful automobile salesman for many years. Dewey was a High Priest in the LDS Church that he loved, fulfilling many church callings throughout his life.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 56 years, five children; Kandis Jensen (Denny), Lori Bird (Keith), Kellie Cheever (Mark), Todd Sweeten (Fran), Troy Sweeten (Kathy); 23 grandchildren and almost 14 great grandchildren sisters: Genevieve Williams, Claudia Atkinson, Cherry Warrington, Bonnie Snow (Gene), Beth Sweeten; brothers: Robert Sweeten (Phyllis), Lyle Sweeten (Carole).

Preceded in death by brothers Hagle, George G., and Hugh.

Funeral services will be held February 7 at the LDS Willow Creek Ward. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park.
