Denton Clyde Hall, 80, of Plain City passed away at home June 1st 2009 of natural causes related to age. He was born March 13, 1929 to Levi Franklin and Vurilia Grace Gover Godfrey Hall in Garland, Utah. Denton was raised in Garland where he learned to work hard as a child. He graduated from the school of hard knocks and earned his diploma in common sense. He married Alda Lee Johnson, September 2, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised seven children and two grandsons. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Plain City 6th Ward.
He was employed as a truck driver for Swift Meat Packing in Ogden for 23 years. Upon Swifts closure he worked an additional 22 years for the Weber County Parks and Recreation Department from which he retired.
He enjoyed being with family and friends and was always ready to travel the neighborhood or further with whomever stopped by. He was willing to go in his car or your car. He enjoyed visiting with all.
He always taught his children fairness, honesty and the value of hard work of which he was a great example.
He is survived by a loving wife, Alda Lee Hall; sons Bruce (Sharon Josephson) Plain City, Dean (Cheryl) Saunders) both deceased, Reed (Nadine Allred) Young Ward, Jerry (JoAnn Christoffersen) Plain City, daughters: Vurila (Gerlynn) Westergard, Farr West, Janetta (David) Anderson Smithfield, Donna (Jeff) Hurl Los Alamitos, CA, Grandsons; Edward (Britney Venable) Plain City, Blake (Jessica Bean) Plain City), 34 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Frank (Norma) Hall, Huntington; sister-in-law, Thelma Hall, Clinton; sisters Lauenna Garn, Garland, Lorna (Dean) Evans, Malad, ID, Adele (Raymond) Anderson, Layton, (Claire (Lynn) Atkinson, Preston, ID
Preceded in death by his parents; brother Harold, brother-in-law, Keith Garn and his son and daughter-in-law Dean and Cheryl Saunders Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Plain City 6th Ward (Center Building) 2225 No. 4300 W. Plain City. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd. and Thursday at the church from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment Plain City Cemetery.
