Dean Albert Bytendorp

Dean Albert Bytendorp, 61, a longtime resident of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho passed away Friday April 9th, 2021 in Downey, Idaho. Dean was born September 2, 1959 to Albert Seymour Bytendorp and Joyce Marie Gilbert in Salt Lake City, Utah where he grew up. Dean married the love of his life Camille Jean Fox on July 18, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They later moved to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho after they both fell in love with the area and all it had to offer for the family. Dean was adopted as a brother into the Lakota of the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota where he and Camille loved to spend their time learning the traditional ways of the Lakota from our family Mildread Benoist, Clemit Long, Steve and Darlene Vance and many more of their family in South Dakota.

Over the Years Dean and Camille cared for more than 100 foster children and many pets.

Dean loved nature and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved teaching them what he knew and making fun activities and lots of wonderful memories doing what they enjoyed together. Things such as camping, snowmobiling rock hunting, exploring ghost towns, gardening, wood working and working on cars.

Dean enjoyed his career at ATK for 20 plus years.

Dean is survived by three sons, Jeremiah Hancock, Joshua Hancock and Estevan Byendorp, a daughter Sativa Bytendorp and seven grandchildren, Audrina Hess, Elijah Hancock, Paytin Egley, Maddisyn Hancock and Aiden Hancock. Two brothers Lain (Penny) Bytendorp and Rick (Laura) Bytendorp. He is preceded in death by his wife Camille and his parents. Funeral Services will be held April 19, at 11:00 at the Lava Hot Springs LDS Ward at 437 West Spring Street. Friends may visit with the family before the services from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.
