David W. Smith

David W. “D.W.” Smith, 78, Rupert, died Friday, July 30,1914, at Cache Junction, Utah to Edward E. and Phebe Weaver Smith. He attended schools in Ogden, and Malad, graduating from Malad High School in 1933. He attended Weber State and graduated from Albion State Normal in elementary education.

He married Laura Pearl LaNite May 7, 1982 in the Logan Temple.

He was a respected insurance agent for many years in the Rupert area and served on the Minidoka County School Board for two terms.

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.

He is survived by he wife of Rupert; three sons, Ronald Smith, and David L. Smith, both of Rupert and Alan Smith of Rexburg; three daughters, Sonia Brague of St. Anthony, Carolyn Young of Soda Springs, and Nancy Jasperson of Evanston, Wyoming, three step-sons, John Cooper of Spokane, Gordon Cooper of Alto Loma, California, and Arnold Reddog of Poplar, Montana; two step-daughters, Valerie Richmond of West Valley City, and Sheryl Anne Bible of Provo; two sisters; 30 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and one sister.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, August 4 in Rupert.
