David LaVar Evans, 82, our special Dad and Grandpa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, in Parowan, Utah.
He was born June 3, 1914, in Malad, Idaho, a son of William and Elizabeth Jones Evans. He married Blanche Crook on Aug. 20, 1946, in San Mateo, Calif.
She preceded him in death Nov. 27, 1994. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 11. He owned and operated his own landscaping business, working in California for many years.
After his retirement, he continued his love of landscaping by working in the city of Malad for friends and relatives. He was known for his special sense of humor and his love for his family.
He never met a stranger, always making friends easily. We will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his two sons, Bill and wife, Denise Evans of Cedar City and Brent and Theresa Evans of Portola, Calif. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Smith. He has 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Malad LDS Fourth Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. today, Jan. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
