DARLENE GENTRY

OVERTON, NV – Darlene Gentry, age 77, died March 10, 2011 at her home in Overton, Nevada. She was born February 18, 1934 in Malad, Idaho to Walter Charles and Ella M. Briggs Archibald.

On March 11, 1955, she married David Orlando Dimick in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had five children and were later divorced. On November 25, 1977, she married Raymond Enyeart Gentry in Acequia, ID. He preceded her in death o n February 7, 1995.

Darlene grew up in Pocatello, ID, where she graduated as the salutatorian of her class. After she was married, they lived for a short time in Hawaii, then they moved back to Pocatello. In 1977, she moved to Rupert, ID and retired in Burley, ID in 1994. In 1996, she started “snowbirding” in Overton, NV, later becoming a permanent resident.

She worked as a secretary in the Soil Conservation Service, part of the U.S. Government. She loved doing genealogy, even serving as a missionary in Salt Lake City. She enjoyed socializing at the senior center and playing cards with her friends. She had a special relationship with Wayne Millington, which she enjoyed for the last several years.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters, Sharon (Steven) Allen of Boise, ID; Steven David (Linda) of Las Vegas, NV; Julia Darlene (Charles) Fuller of Columbia, PA; Duane Lynn (Rebecca) of Las Vegas, NV; Vernon Rex (Lynda) of Logandale, NV; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel, and one brother, Oakley.

Funeral services will be held March 15, 2011 at the Overton Third Ward LDS Chapel. Interment will be Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, Idaho.
