Daniel Horstkotte

Daniel Horstkotte, 71, passed from this life on February 7, 2003 in Malad, Idaho.

A severe stroke in 1992 left Dan incapacitated and required his move to Oneida County Hospital where he received excellent care and was comforted in his passing by the caring staff.

Dan received his Master’s Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering at Oregon State University. He joined Bechtel Power Corp. in 1955 in San Francisco. After transferring to the South California Division, he was promoted to managing estimator and worked on many important nuclear and fossil fueled power generating projects for 32 years.

Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Dixie Horstkotte, sons: Erik Horstkotte, Brad and Connie Horstkotte and Rick and Kathy Sewell, daughter, Chris Rawlings and grandchildren: Logan, Jeni, Becky, Sean, Jesica and Harley. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and we will miss him greatly.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Euarda Daniels and the doctors, nurses and staff of Oneida County Hospital for their excellent care of Dan during his convalescence and their compassion at his passing.

Dan will be returned to his birth place and laid to rest next to his parents, Gerry (Horse) and Genevieve Horstkotte and his only brother, Gerry Horstkotte in Bend, OR. At Dan’s request, there will be no services. Anyone who would like to remember him, let it be with a kind word or gesture to another.
