Dan Tanaka, (1932)

TANAKA, DAN, January 3, 1932 – October 21, 2006

HONEYVILLE – Dan Tanaka, 74, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 21, 2006 from an apparent heart attack. He was born on January 3, 1932 in Garland, UT, a son of Hiyakutaro and Asano Kajitani Tanaka.

Dan served in the US Army in Korea, where he was a sergeant. He graduated from Utah State University in business.

Dan married his sweetheart JoAnne Hill on March 23, 1959 in Vale, Oregon.

He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a tech writer and later retired.

Dan like raising pheasants and chuckers for various hunting clubs. He also enjoyed working his farm, gardening, hunting and liked sports, especially the Aggies. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family, but loved spending time and watching his daughter and his two grandchildren excel in school and all their activities. He was known as Grandpa Dan, not only to this grandchildren, but also to all of their friends.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnne of Honeyville; one daughter, Becky Garner of Smithfield; one grandson and one granddaughter, Zachary and Carson Garner also of Smithfield; five siblings, Russell (Mitzi) Tanaka of Ontario, OR; Katsuko Sally Mann of Malad, ID; John (Marge) Tanaka of Honeyville; Lilly (Ike) Kawamura, Pocatello, ID; Namiko (Jim) Ishii, Honeyville and numerous nieces and nephews.
