Coy B. (Albretsen) Shillinger

Coy B. (Albretsen) Shillinger, a resident of the Skagit Valley in Washington for over 50 years, passed away at the Burton Care Center in Burlington, Washington, on Thursday, April 19, 2007.

She was born in Hyrum, Utah, on May 2, 1923, to Julius and Jennie Albretsen. Coy completed high school in Malad, Idaho, graduating at the head of her class. On January 10, 1943, she married George S. Shillinger of Burlington, Washington, in Malad.

Coy is survived by five children: LaMont, of Aberdeen, Washington, Annette, of Renton, Washington, Roxanne, of Bellingham, Washington, Kim, of Mount Vernon, Washington, and Mark, of Scottsdale, Arizona; her sister, Jean Seversen, of Salt Lake City, Utah; ten grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; four nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, LaVoy; nephew, Ron; granddaughter, Jamie; and grandson, Kevin.

While raising her family, Coy attended Skagit Valley College and received her LPN and RN certifications. She worked for many years in the obstetrics ward at Sedro-Woolleys’s United General Hospital. She loved nursing and also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading.

Coy was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a member of The Willing Workers service group in Burlington.

No funeral was held, at her request. A private graveside service for family members was held Tuesday, April 24, at the Burlington Cemetery.
