Clyron Wayne Mills

MILLS, CLYRON WAYNE, February 21, 1920 – August 9, 2004

Clyron Wayne Mills “Wink”, 84, longtime resident of Snowville, Utah passed away on August 9, 2004 in the home of his daughter, Patty Cahoon in Albion, Idaho. He was born February 21, 1920 to Thomas and Inga Crystine Emmertsen Mills. He was the seventh of nine children. He was born in Black Pine, Idaho. He graduated in 1938 from Bear River high School in Garland, Utah.

He entered the service on October 19, 1941 at Fort Douglas, Utah as a sergeant. He served in the Air Force. He spent 12 months in the USA and 45 months overseas, going over on April 17, 1942. He was an airplane and engine mechanic and army air force technician specialist. He participated in the campaigns at Northern Solmons, central Pacific, Eastern Mandates, Guadalcanal, Bismarck, New Guinea and Truck. He received the American defense service medal, good conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific service medal and distinguished unit citation.

He married Artense Leona Campbell on June 6, 1946. They had five children, two daughters and three sons. They were later divorced. He then remarried Vera Adeline Hobson Anderson on July 13, 1970 in Elko, Nevada. He spent most of his working life on the farm in Stone, Idaho and at Thiokol as a security guard. He retired from Thiokol.

His parents, seven siblings, a stepson, a step granddaughter and a great-grandson preceded him in death.

He was survived by his sister, Beth Giordano; his children and their spouses, David and Jill Mills, Fruit Heights, UT; Judy and DeWayne Cottam, Jerome, ID; Deloy and Wanda Mills, Ogden, UT; Ruben and Katie Mills, Apple Valley, CA; Ron and Patty Cahoon, Albion, ID; Carol Anderson, West Valley, UT; David Anderson, Montana; Jewel and Craig Lynch, Ogden, UT; and Phillip and KaeLynn Anderson, Texas. Clyron has 47 grandchildren with spouses, 44 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held August 14 at the Curlew Ward building, Snowville, UT. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
