Editor dies here Sunday at age 86
Born in Logan Nov. 4, 1883 to Neils and Mattie Merrill Hanson, he was educated in the Logan public schools and the New Jersey Academy, a Presbyterian mission school, at Logan. He married Margaret Jones at Malad Nov. 19, 1906. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. R.D. (Lorraine) Van Buskirk, Boise; two sons, Burton M., Los Angeles; Marion R., Malad; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Helen Watson, South ???.
Death Takes Former Idaho Editor
MALAD, Idaho — Clyde Hanson, 86, former editor of The Idaho Enterprise, a Malad newspaper, died Sunday night of a heart ailment in a Malad hospital.
Mr. Hanson became editor of the Idaho Enterprise in 1907, and continued in that position until December, when he went into semi-retirement.
He had also been editor of the Montpelier Examiner and The Rockland Times.
MASTER EDITOR
A PAST DISTRICT DIRECTOR OF THE Idaho Editorial Association, he was the association’s master editor in 1963.
He had been mayor of Malad, and was Malad postmaster from 1923 to 1935.
He was past master of the Malad Masonic Lodge, past grand noble of the Malad Odd Fellows Lodge, and a charter member and past president of the Malad Lions Club. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and past chairman, Malad District, Boy Scouts of America.
He was born Nov. 4, 1883, in Logan, a son of Niels and Mattie Merrill Hanson.
On Nov. 19, 1906, he was married to Margaret Jones in Malad.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Burton M., Los Angeles; Marion Ralph, Malad; one daughter, Mrs. R.D. (Lorraine) Van Buskirk Sr., Boise; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Helen Watson, South San Gabriel, Calif.
