Clifton Jenkins
April 28, 1931 ~ June 12, 2021 (age 90)

Returned to his Father in Heaven on June 12, 2021, with all his loved ones gathered around him. Clifton was born April 28, 1931 in South Davis, Uintah County, Utah, about 17 miles Southeast of Vernal, Uintah County, Utah.

Clifton joined the United States Navy at the age of seventeen and served for 21 years. He served on six different ships and seven different shore stations. During this time, he met his wonderful wife, Veretta Opal Gomm. Clifton and Veretta had two sons, Clifton Dean Jenkins and David Wayne Jenkins and one daughter, Melissa Jane Jenkins Huntington.

Clifton retired from the Navy two days after his 38th birthday. He then went to college at Weber State and Utah State and earned a bachelor’s degree in education and continued to obtain his master’s degree in education. Clifton used these degrees to obtain a teaching job at Morgan elementary school where he taught 4th grade and special education for the next 20 years. Touching and impacting many lives.

During Clifton’s 90 years on this earth he served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served as the Morgan County Justice of the Peace.

Clifton was preceded in death by his wife and his son Dean. He is survived by his son David and his wife Penny and daughter Melissa and her husband Kelly Huntington, and all his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah on Thursday June 17, 2021, from 6-8 pm and a family viewing Friday morning June 18, 2021, from 9:30 – 10:15 am at Walker Mortuary. Following the viewing a Military Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am at the Peterson Cemetery. Following The graveside service, a story telling memorial celebration will be held at Morgan Utah West Stake Center, located on Old Highway Road.
