Mrs. R. C. Corey Dies At Seattle

Mrs. R C. Corey, 77. Malad resident since 1935, died early this morning (9th or 10th 1955) in Seattle, Wash., where she had been visiting since December. The body will be brought to Malad for burial but definite arrangements for services have not yet been made.

Mrs. Corey is survived by three sons and two daughters: Edgar Corey, Mitchell, S. D.: George Corey, Seattle, Wash.; Melvin Corey, Bothel, Wash.; Mrs Frayne Jones and Mrs. Earl Mathews, Malad.

Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Corey

Funeral services for Claudia E. Lane Corey, 77, who died Thursday while visiting at the home of a son in Seattle, Wash., were held Tuesday at the Malad Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were also held Saturday in Seattle.

The Rev. Jack Dewey officiated at the services at Malad. Talks were given by Rev. Dewey and T. P. Budge; the prelude and postlude music was by Mrs. Winifred Alldaffer. Other musical numbers were solos by Eldon Corbridge and Jenkin Jones. The obituary was by Angus Stocking.

Burial was in the Malad cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Corey was born July 18, 1877 at Clear Lake, Iowa, a daughter of Amanda Staples and Richard F. Lane. She was educated at a country school and at the Mason City, Iowa high school. She married Robert C. Corey, Oct. 22, 1896 at Hamblin, Minn., and has made her home in Malad for the past 20 years. Mr. Corey preceded her in death as did two daughters.

Surviving are three sons, Edgar R. Corey, Mitchell, S. D.; Melvin M. Corey, Bothel, Wash.; George S. Corey, Seattle. Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Earl D. (Mary) Mathews and Mrs. Frayne (Jackie) Jones, both of Malad. and 14 grandchildren.
