Charles Grant McComb

Charles Grant McComb, 23 May, 1931

LAYTON – Charles Grant McComb (Bus), 70, husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, passed away January 3, 2002 at McKay-Dee Hospital surrounded by family. He died of complications from a life long struggle with diabetes and heart disease.

He was born May 23, 1931 in Tremonton, UT, son of Walter Dan McComb and Charlotte Jemimah (Lottie) Peterson.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949 and attended Weber State College. He worked at hill Air Force Base as a computer programmer, retiring in 1977 due to health reasons.

He married Janice Rose on August 1, 1952. They were later divorced. He married Judith Price on October 16, 1970. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple on October 16, 1980. Charlie was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, was an all around handy man, and had a contagious sense of humor.

Throughout the past twenty years of his illnesses he kept a positive humorous attitude. If you called his hospital room he would answer with a jolly, “Charlie’s place”. He kept everyone laughing. He loved to tell jokes. This trait he passed on to each one of his children.

Charlie was a convert to the LDS Church being baptized in 1957. He was currently a High Priest in the Valley View 5th Ward. Charlie has nine children and 17 grandchildren. We will miss his joking personality.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Layton; his children, Grant (Yolanda) McComb, Placentia, CA; Craig (Julie) McComb, South Lake Tahoe, CA; Mark McComb, South Ogden; Stephen (Linda) McComb, Murray; Shelly (Larry) Schenk; Lisa McComb, Lyle (Anita) McComb, Layton; Marty (Terrie) McComb, Sunset; Lori (Jeff) Taylor, Layton.

He is also survived by his 98 year old mother, Lottie McComb, Kaysville; two brothers and one sister, Walter Dan (Betty) McComb, Boise, ID; Lynn Dee (Daone) McComb, Layton; Betty (William) Johns, Wenatchee, WA; his father and mother in law, Theon and Helen Price, Heyburn, ID.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother in law, Gaylen Price and two grandsons, Dustin McComb and Brady Schenk.

Funeral services will be held January 8, 2002 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
