St. George, UT. Alta Violet Camp, born August 31, 1906 in Pleasantview, ID to Williams Peter Camp and Esther Violet Draper Camp, died June 18, 2003 in Bountiful, UT. She was the oldest daughter and sister to Virgil, Waldamere, Wendell, Paul, Cecil, Fern and Alden. She married Wayne Russell McConkie July 26, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in Moab, UT for 14 years until 1947 when the family moved to St. George, UT.
Alta was a life long member of the LDS Church and served a mission to Eastern Canada. She held responsible positions in all church auxiliaries and community affairs in Moab and St. George. She was an exceptional homemaker, seamstress, quilter, cook and friend.

She is survived by her children, Sheldon Wayne (Sirpa) McConkie, Alta Geniel (Grant) Christian, both of Bountiful and Joan (Norman) Waite of Layton; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers, Waldamere Camp, Jerome, ID; and Alden Camp, Murray, UT. After 63 years of marriage, Wayne died in 1996.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2003, 12 noon, St. George LDS Ward Chapel, 85 S. 400 E., St. George, UT. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. at the church prior to services.
