Rev. Caryl Kearney Naffzinger, 90, 68 S. Main, Malad died Thursday in the Oneida County Nursing Home.
He was born March 16, 1892, in Kearney Feb., to Rev. William H. and Emma Castle Naffzinger. He grew up and was educated in Nebraska and Ohio and was a graduate of Alliance High School in Ohio.
He attended Whittinburg College and Hamma Divinity School where he graduated in 1920 to enter the Lutheran Ministry, later being received into the Presbyterian Church.’
He married Hanna Marie Harder on May 21, 1923, in Houston, Texas. During his life Rev. Naffzinger served in many pastorates, including Indianapolis, Ind., Pueblo, Trinidad and Delta, Colo.. He served his last pastorate at Salt Lake City, Utah, until his retirement in 1943. He then worked for the University of Utah in the registrar’s office and later with the Department of Employment security in Salt Lake City. He moved to Malad in 1973.
He is survived by his wife of Malad; two sons, Warren J. of Foster City, Calif. and Robert W. of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Eldon (Jeanne Jenkins) John, Malad; a brother, Luther O. Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday in the United Presbyterian Church in Malad with Rev. Norman Naugler officiating. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home of Malad.
