MAYNARD, BOYD VERN, November 14, 1930 – February 26, 2008

CHUBBUCK – On February 26, 2008, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s, Boyd Vern Maynard, 77, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving children.

Boyd was born in Malad, Idaho to Isabelle Archibald on November 14, 1930, where he spent his earlier childhood. He developed his love of reading at the local library. The family later moved to Pocatello where he completed his schooling.

Boyd married Lou Ann McPhie and they were blessed with four children. They later divorced.

Boyd worked at Kahm Furniture Company for 23 years as plant supervisor. He then began his career at ISU Vo-Tech as the furniture upholstery instructor. He loved teaching and the many students who touched his life. He retired in 1995 after 17 ½ years holding the title professor emeritus of upholstery and B.A. in vocational teacher education, 1990. Boyd also ran Maynard Upholstery with his son, Brian, during that time. He retired from the USN Reserves as a HT1E6 in 1979.

Boyd loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening and as a craftsman enjoyed wood working and building. Most of all, he loved and was extremely proud of his children, Chris (Launa) Maynard, Shelley, ID, Brian (Toni) Maynard, Pocatello, ID, Marty Ann Sorensen, Pinedale, WY; Marcy (Kirk) Price, Downey, ID; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was their rock, confidante, cheerleader, Dad and Grandpa.

As per Boyd’s wishes, a graveside service will be held February 29, 2008 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
