BLANCHE F. SHEPHERD

Blanche F. Shepherd, 86, passed away Friday, January 14, 2000, of a sudden illness.

She was born December 29, 1913, in Providence, Utah, a daughter of Walter and Sylvia Fife. She was raised and educated in Cache Valley schools and graduated from Utah State University in 1936 with a bachelor’s degree in home economics.

She married Lewis D. Shepherd on September 16, 1940. Their marriage was solemnized later in the Salt Lake Temple on September 10, 1943. After moving to Malad in 1945, Blanche and Shep operated the Dude Ranch Café at its present location until 1978, when son, Gary, assumed the business. Blanche was famous for her homemade pies.

She retired in 1982 to pursue her interests in quilting and other crafts. She was an active member of the LDS Church and enjoyed attending the Logan Temple on a regular basis. For the last two years Blanche lived at the nursing home in Malad where she will be remembered for her happy disposition and keen sense of humor.

Blanche is survived by two sons, Wayne (Cheryle) and Gary (Sherma) of Malad, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Dahl, Salt Lake City, Utah.
