Former resident dies of accident injuries

Graveside services for Blake R. Starkey, 23, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., and former resident of Malad and LaGrande, Ore., were held Monday morning at the Malad City Cemetery.

He died of injuries received in an industrial accident at The Dalles Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Mr. Starkey was born Sept. 17, 1952 at Salem, Ore., a son of Glenn and Lorraine Thomas Starkey.

he married Brenda Emmons in LaGrande, Ore.

He was a graduate of LaGrande High School in 1970, and attended Eastern State College, LaGrande. He was a member of the LDS Church; Elks Lodge No. 433, and Local Union No. 682, Peddleton, Ore.

Survivors include his widow and daughter, Terry Starkey, The Dalles. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Starkey, LaGrande; grandmother Mrs. Robert L. (Juanita) Thomas, Malad City, and two brothers, Gregg Starkey and Jed Starkey, both The Dalles.

Bishop Dale Wyatt officiated at the service here.

Honorary casket bearers were Dennis Smith, Ron Emmons, Mark Drummond, Scott Hansell and Dave Cash.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
