Betty Joy Williams Launer, age 71, dearly beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend was called home on July 17, 2000. She passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Boise, Idaho. Betty Joy was born May 5, 1929, in Samaria, Idaho, to Maxamilian and Eleanor Thomas Williams. She was the youngest of eight children.

Betty Joy graduated from Albion Teacher’s College in Idaho, and Utah State University, in Logan, Utah. She was a wonderful teacher and taught school in Idaho and Arizona; and Kindergarten in California for the Los Angeles City School district for over 35 years.

She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was married to Raymond Alfred, her husband of 42 years, and was a devoted wife. She was cherished as a mother and grandmother and would do anything for her family. Her grandchildren adore her.

Betty is survived by her husband; six children: Rhea (Paul) Elliott, Rene (David) Cunningham, Lalayne (Gary) Weiss, Raymond (Ellen) Launer, Laura (Alan) Flake, Debra (Jeff) Stott; eighteen grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Bezold and Ruth Surrage, and a brother, Alvin Williams.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Daniel T. Jeremiah H. Floyd and Dale Max Williams. A special brother-in-law, John Surrage, preceded her in death one week ago.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Internment in the American Fork Cemetery.

Betty Joy leaves a legacy of charity, selfless service and love that will be felt for generations to come. We miss you, Mom.
