Berna Deane Brower Lusk, (1927)

Berna Deane Brower Lusk
June 19, 1927 – September 28, 2022

Berna Deane Brower Lusk, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend passed away peacefully on September 28, 2022.

Berna Deane was born June 19, 1927, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Lloyd and Hannah Brower. She grew up on the family farm/ranch on Mercer Creek in Arbon Valley where she quickly learned the value of honest, hard work. The kids had to walk a good distance to school, except for the days they were lucky enough to get to ride a horse. She graduated from Pocatello High School.

She married Ralph Bailey Lusk on April 30, 1944. They worked very hard side by side on their farm just down the creek from where she grew up, and made their dream come true. Ralph always said she was the best hired man he ever had. She worked circles around all of us. Together on their farm they raised four children: Ralph Alan, Michael Joe, Shannon and Melanie. Ralph passed away on April 2, 1991.

Berna Deane was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was able to serve in nearly every capacity from Stake Relief Society to Nursery. Her favorite calling was teaching Sunday School to the teenaged kids.

She was an excellent cook, and was known for her exceptional pies. She was also a very accomplished seamstress with a State Fair Quilting grand prize to prove it. She loved to garden and had such a lovely yard full of flowers. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do when she put her mind to it. She took great pride in being self-sufficient and independent.

She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who have all become very successful and hardworking people. Her nieces and nephews were also a source of great joy to her. She was surrounded by a great number of kind and loving neighbors that meant the world to her.

Berna Deane is survived by 2 of her children: Ralph Alan of Arbon, Melanie Haskett (Bret) of Bannock Creek and son-in-law Shane Wilker of Idaho Falls; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years Ralph; her son Joe and daughter Shannon; brother Lloyd and sister Jerry.
