Benjamin Adams (Ben A.) Williams, age 79, died Tuesday, August 4, 1992 at his home, of cancer.

He was born October 3, 1912 in Preston, Idaho to Carrie Adams and Chauncey Williams. He was reared and educated in Idaho and California.

On August 28, 1937, he married, Darlene June Wilson in Ogden.

During the 1930’s, he worked as a steward aboard cruise ships and freighters. He served in the Merchant Marines, visiting and working in many countries and served with the U.S. navy during World War II as a member of the “Seabees”. After the war, he adopted painting as his profession and was a self-employed contractor until his retirement in 1974.

He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the Ogden Elks Lodge for 31 years.

Ben was an avid fisherman and was a recognized expert in both salt water and fresh water environments.

Surviving are his wife of North Ogden; two sons, Ben A Williams, West Valley City; Craig W. Williams, Corona, California; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Wade.

Graveside services were held Monday, August 10 at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden, Utah. Funeral directors, Leavitt’s Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, Ogden, Utah.
