Ardelle Evans Williams

Ardelle Evans Williams passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007, of natural causes at her home in Malad. She had been cared for at home by her daughter, Janice Goddard.

Ardelle was born April 22, 1917, in Malad City, Oneida County, as the fifth child and daughter of Daniel K. and Sarah Jane Jones Evans. She was raised, educated and lived all her life in the Malad Valley, graduating from high school in 1935.

She married James Bland Williams in Logan, Utah, April 3, 1936. He passed away December 10, 1991.

They farmed together on the family ranch in Gwenford near Samaria for many years. Later, they helped care for her mother when they lived in Malad in a home built by her father, who was a building contractor.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary and Young Women in Samaria and Malad.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Malad Welsh Society, and also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, where she served as president.

She loved gardening, and raised beautiful roses and other flowers. She always supported and attended all activities and games of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She has three children: a daughter, Mrs. Janice (Richard) Goddard of Malad; and two sons, J. Dennis “J.D.” (Rosemary) Williams of Boise, and Daniel (Mary Jane) Williams of Oregon. Her children, eight granddaughters, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren survive her.

Ardelle was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all of her sisters and brothers: Mary (Mae) Williams, Kate Edwards, Anna Jones, Myrle Hess, Daniel J. Evans, and William G. (Bill) Evans, and one son-in-law, Richard A. Goddard, who she appreciated very much for all he did for her after Bland died.

Funeral services conducted by Bishop Brian Jeppsen were held to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 17, at the LDS Fourth Ward Chapel in Malad. She was buried later that day in the family plot in the Samaria Cemetery overlooking Malad Valley.

She affected many lives during her lifetime, and taught her family to be successful. Now, as the last member of her family to go to heaven, a torch has been passed to four more generations who follow after her.
