Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Malad Stake Center for Archie Levi Neal, age 67, who died May 4th at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake after a long illness.
Mr. Neal was born May 9, 1906 at Snowville, Utah, a son of John Samuel and Clara Peterson Neal. He received his education in Snowville, Arco, and Burley schools.
He married Letha Tubbs Jan. 13, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Neal was a farmer and rancher in Oneida County. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served a mission from 1930 to 1932 in the Southern States, was a High Priest in Malad Stake and served in many ward and stake capacities, including MIA president, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, member of MIA board and genealogical committee, president of 52nd Quorum of Seventies and stake mission, and was a High Councilman. He received an honorary M Men pin for service to youth.
Mr. Neal contributed 30 years service to Boy Scouts of America. He served as Scoutmaster and Tendoy Council representative. He was given the Silver Bearer Award, highest honor to be given at Council level.
Surviving are his widow, Malad, seven children: John, Holbrook; berNon, SanJose, Calif.; Timothy, Mrs. David (Eileen) England, Salt Lake; Mrs. Ray (LaRonna) Andersen, Centerville, Utah; Mrs. Lincoln (BarDonna) Zollinger, Mackay; Mrs. Thomas (Dian) Chivers, Soda Springs; 30 grandchildren; 10 brothers and sisters: LaVon, Ogden; Gerald Stevensville, Mont; Farrell, Malad; Chester, Portage; Hallis, Jerome; Mrs. Doyle (Amanda) Cutler; Mrs. George (Naomi) Garbanetti, Snowville; Mrs. Laura Harrington, Butte, Mont.; Mrs. LaVar (Alene) Thomas, Mrs. Dee (June) Newman, Howe, Idaho. Two sons, LaMont and Lowell preceded him in death.
