Ann Eliza Thomas Goddard

GODDARD, ANN ELIZA THOMAS, January 19, 1876 – January, 1970

Mrs. Ann Eliza Thomas Goddard, age 94, died of natural causes at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Udy, in Ogden.

Funeral services were held in the Malad LDS Fourth Ward Chapel with Bishop Earl Gillies officiating. Counselor Elden Archibald officiated and read the obituary. The family prayer was offered by LeRoy Lillywhite; the invocation by Carl Fuhriman and the benediction by Merlin Deschamps. Bishop W.W. Thomas was the speaker. Special music included a vocal solo, Mrs. Helen E. Jones; duet, Mrs. Norma Gleed and Mrs. June Crowther. The accompanists were Debra Price and marlene Smith. Prelude and postlude music was played by Carla Dawn G. Williams.

Melvin Stevensen offered the dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery. Flowers were arranged by members of Malad Fourth Ward Relief Society. Casket bearers were henry W. Thomas, Samuel D. Thomas, Dewey T. Jones, Cecil Haskell, Eugene Udy and LeRoy Lillywhite.

Mrs. Goddard was born January 19, 1876 at Malad, a daughter of Henry and Sarah Morgan Thomas. She was married to Eli Goddard, February 12, 1898 in Malad. Mr. Goddard died May 15, 1946.

She received her education in the Malad schools and was a member of the LDS Church.

She is survived by one son and six daughters: Don E., Malad; Mrs. Dean (Blanche) Coombs, Garland; Mrs. Cecil (Amelia) Haskell, Roy, UT; Mrs. Oscar (Ruth) Thomas, Mrs. Eugene (Iona) Udy, Ogden; Mrs. LeRoy (Cleopha) Lillywhite, Covina, CA; Mrs. Naomi Welling, Venice, CA; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

Burial will be at the Malad City Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
