Services Saturday for Mr. Atkinson

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 22 July 1961, at 2 p.m. At the Samaria LDS ward chapel for Andrew Atkinson, age 60, who died Wednesday, 19 July 1961, at the Dee Hospital, Ogden following surgery.

Bishop Carl A. Evans will officiate.

Mr. Atkinson was born March 26, 1901, at Samaria, a son of Alfred H. and Hannah Waldron Atkinson. He married Edith Hughes Sept. 1, 1926 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They have farmed at Samaria and Pocatello Valley.

He was a counselor in the Samaria Ward bishopric for 16 years; active in the Sunday school superintendency and in Mutual where he coached M-Men sports for many years.

He was a director of the Utah Poultry plant at Malad during its operation here.

Surviving are his wife, Samaria; a son, Andrew Marlo Atkinson, Pocatello; two daughters Mrs. Ray (Elerene) Uday, Mrs. VerNon (Nadine) Lamb, Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; five brothers and five sisters, Alfred, David, Lester, William, all of Samaria; Elmer, Redondo Beach, Calif; Mrs. Thomas A. (Davinah) Evans, Mrs. Vernon A. (Zelma) Jones, Mrs. Bud (Hannah) Davis, Malad; Mrs. Calvin (Margaret) Yearsley, Downey; Mrs. Jack (Pearl) Bradshaw, Firth.

Friends may call at Benson Funeral Home Friday evening between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. And at the family home in Samaria Saturday after 10 a.m. Burial will be at Samaria Cemetery, directed by Benson Funeral Home.
