AMANDA HOWARD

Amanda Howard, 1982-2005. After a two year courageous battle with leukemia, Amanda passed away peacefully Friday, July 1, 2005, while surrounded by her parents and siblings, with the exception of her brother who is currently serving a LDS mission in Argentina.

Amanda, the daughter of Mark J. and Deborah G. Howard of Las Vegas, was born in American Fork, Utah. She spent the first 13 years of her life living in Orem before she moved with her family to Las Vegas. She graduated in 2000, with high honors from Cimarron-Memorial High School where she received the Nevada Silver Scholar Award. Her profound love and concern for others, especially children lead her to want to work in pediatric oncology. She was attending Brigham Young University and was obtaining a nursing degree before she became sick.

Amanda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had an absolute love for her savior Jesus Christ and a firm testimony of the restoration of the gospel.

She is survived by her parents; sister, Shelli (David) Tyler; brother, Scott (Sarah) Howard; and Elder Kenneth Howard; nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Katy, Jacob and Zack Tyler, Mercedes, Mabel and Rowan Howard; and grandmother, Mary Ellen Gilgen.

Funeral services were held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3300 N. Buffalo on Wednesday, July 6. Amanda will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Orem Cemetery in Orem, Utah.

A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, employees and volunteers at Mountain View Hospital, Primary Children’s Medical Center, Sunrise Hospital, Doctor Bernstein, her Desert Shores and BYU 198th wards, and everyone else that helped during her battle and leukemia.
