ALVIN JOHN THOMAS DIES IN CEDAR CITY

Alvin John Thomas, age 81, died December 17, 1977 in a Cedar City hospital of a stroke.

He was born Sept. 1, 1896 at Samaria, a son of William Rowlands and Eleanor John Thomas.

He married Grace Bluemel, Oct. 23, 1925 in Salt Lake City; the marriage was solemnized in 1928 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was a graduate of Utah State University, and was a retired school teacher. He taught history, government and social studies in Malad High School for several years.

Being an active member of the LDS Church, he served as a supt. Of the stake Sunday school board, and taught in all the church organizations.

He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his widow of Samaria; one son and one daughter: Raymond Burton Thomas, The Dalles, OR; Mrs. David L. (Grace Jane) Stone, Cedar City; eight grandchildren, one son, Cyril A. Thomas, preceded him in death.
