Allen Albert Silvester, (1917)

ALLEN A. SILVESTER

ROY – Allen Albert Silvester, age 83, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2000, from the effects of Alzheimer’s.

He was born March 8, 1917 to Fredrick and Alvira Bigler Silvester in Plymouth, UT. At the young age of 14 Al lost his own father and left home to work in order to support his mother and four younger children still at home. He became involved in ranching and made it his life’s work.

Al managed the Browning’s Bar B Ranches in Montana where he met his sweetheart, Wilma. He married Wilma Givogre on February 22, 1947. After moving to Utah, Al continued ranching for Matt Browning, Wayne and Dallas Sandall, and the Thiokol Ranch all located in Promontory. He later worked for Barbara Browning-Cowan at her horse establishment in Ogden. Al retired from ranching at the age of 74.

Al was a happy man because he loved his work and had the love of his family. There was no end to the love he had for his wife, Wilma, daughters, Ruth and Elaine; granddaughter, Jamie; and son-in-law, Frank. His honesty and kindness was shared with everyone throughout his life. We are all better people for knowing such a fine man and his memory will guide our hearts.

Al is survived by his wife, Wilma of Roy; daughters, Ruth Silvester, Roy and Elaine (Frank) Lake, Hooper; granddaughter, Jamie Gunnarson, Hooper; two brothers Dan Silvester, Ogden; Wendall Silvester, Montana; three sisters, Violet Udy, Ogden; Leah Foster, Lakewood, CA and Lilly Hess, Malad, ID.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill Silvester, Ed Silvester, Dale Silvester; and sisters Marie Petersen, Nina Archibald, and Arlene Jenkins.

We would like to thank the staff of Division C and D of the Heritage Park Care Center for their wonderful care and kindness they shared with Al and his family. Those wishing to do so may make contributions to the Heritage Park Care Center, 2700 W. 5600 S. Roy, UT 84067 in lieu of flowers.

Private services were held Thursday, October 12, 2000 at Leavitt’s Mortuary.
