A.J. AL THACKERAY

OGDEN – A.J. Al Thackeray went to live with his Heavenly Father of September 12, 2005 after a valiant fight with cancer.

Al was born November 27, 1924, Thanksgiving Day, in Ogden, UT to Leah Nelson and Alma Thackeray. He attended Ogden schools and Weber College. He married his life-long partner, Jean Palmer, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 27, 1946.

Al retired from Hill Air Force Base on January 5, 1980 as a weapon system logistic officer.

His family and grandchildren were the most important things in his life. His interests included traveling, bowling and spending time at the mountain property with family. He was a high priest in the LDS Church.

Survived by his wife, Jean; son, Kevin (Susan) Thackeray; grandsons Travis (Kim) Lewis, one great granddaughter, Andrea Lewis; Clinton (Jessica) Thackeray, Nick (Sheryl) Thackeray, and Cory Thackeray; one brother Jay (Coy) Thackeray; one sister Barbara (Art) Headley, and aunt, Katherine Putnam, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Lewis, two brothers and a sister.

Al was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Applegate Home Health Care, Vista Hospice Care and Washington Terrace Health Care for their living and kind care to Al and the family during his illness.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., where friends may call on Friday from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm.

Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
