Luther Estep

ARBON – Luther Estep, 79, passed away February 5, 2004 at a local medical center. He was born January 28, 1925, the sixth of seven children to Luther martin and Lucy May Randall Estep in American Falls, Idaho.

Luther attended the Arbon one-room school house through the sixth grade and finished his schooling in American Falls, graduating in 1943.

Luther married Eileen Ward, October 25, 1947 in Malad, Idaho at her parent’s home. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple, August 24, 2002.

He worked on the farm his entire life in Arbon growing wheat, barley and raising beef cattle until his retirement in 1986.

Luther was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being baptized at the age of 76. He served one term on the Arbon School Board, three terms on the ASCS board and also served as chairman.

He lettered three years in basketball and football and two years in track at American Falls High School. He played on an Arbon Valley Outlaw baseball and basketball team. Luther loved traveling and in his younger years camping, snowmobiling and hunting. In his later years he liked to winter in Arizona and Texas. He served as the Grand Marshall in the Power County Stampede.

Luther is survived by his wife, Eileen Estep, Arbon, ID; children, Kenneth (Valaree) Estep, Arbon, ID; Pamela (Weston) Christensen, Inkom, Id; sisters, Beulah (Ray) Galloway, American Falls, ID and Maudie Chiaro, Pocatello, ID; three grandchildren, Chad (Cindy) Christensen, Pocatello, ID; Jenny Christensen, Inkom, Id and Holly (Scott) Vernon, Pocatello, ID; and many caring nieces and nephews.

H was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister, Ray, Carl (killed in WWII), Robert and Florence Long.

Funeral services will be held February 9, 2004 at the Pocatello Stake Center Burial will follow at the Arbon Cemetery.
