Rex B Schwartz

Malad – Rex B Schwartz, 65, of Malad, died Thursday, June 17, 1993, in Malad.

He was born July 30, 1927, in Malad, a son of Ernest and Emma Binggell Schwartz. He grew up, was educated, and was a lifetime resident of Malad. He married Lucille Ione Waldron May 25, 1945, in Malad, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on June 22, 1948.

As a young boy he had worked as a box boy at the Kearn’s Grocery Store. Later, along with Roy Daniels, he bought the American Food Store, and for many years he owned and operated Rex’s A.G.

He had been active in the Malad Lions Club, where he was past president. He was a member of the LDS Church, where he had served as Young Men’s president, and worked in the scouting program.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Malad; three sons and spouses, E. Glen and Jeanne Schwartz of Chubbuck, Terrill R. and Peggy Schwartz, Malad, and Don Paul and Shery Schwartz, Malad; two daughters and spouses, Tam and Steve Svedin, Hillsboro, Oregon; and Pam and Bob Broberg of Malad; also surviving are 15 grandchildren, two sisters, Ella Anderson, Pocatello, an Ruth Schvaneveldt, Weston, Idaho. He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, Bishop Rex Daniels officiating. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N., Malad, this evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
