Letha Ames Schwartz

Malad – Letha Ames Schwartz, 89, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1912 in Hyrum, Utah, the daughter of Charles and Sara Salvesen Ames.
She married Frederick E. Schwartz, April 10, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple in 1979. Mr. Schwartz passed away in 1967.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by six children: Sara Colleen (Leonard) Brower, Sandy, Utah; Shirley Kae (Gordon) Packard, Pocatello, Idaho (currently serving a mission in Moapa, Nevada); Darlene (Robert) Richards, Malad; Max LaVell (Carol) Schwartz, Brigham City, Utah; O’Neil A (Denece) Schwartz, Pocatello, Idaho; and Denny Joe (Louise) Schwartz, Malad.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a brother Charles “Bud” Ames, Ivens, Utah; and a sister, Bobby Claremont, Covina, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters: Norma, Sybil, and Marie; two brothers: O’Neil and John; stepmother, Annie, and one grandson, Kent Packard.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the Malad LDS Stake Center, 400 North 200 West. Friends may call on Thursday evening at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday at the Malad Stake Center from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home.
