Funeral Tuesday For Wm. M. Stephens
Funeral services were held at the St. John LDS Ward Chapel Tuesday for William M. Stephens, age 78, who died of cancer Friday at the Oneida Hospital.
Bishop James Madsen officiated and gave the obituary; other speakers were Griff L. Jenkins and J. D. “Cy” Price. Prayers were offered at the home by Eugene Edwards; at the chapel by Kenneth Kent and Adrian Jones. Special musical numbers were vocal solos, Helen E. Jones and Jenkin L. Palmer; duet, Betty Hammond and Louise Hammond. Accompanists were Emily Hammond and Lysle Deschamps who also played the prelude and postlude.
Flowers were carried by members of the St. John Relief Society. Casket bearers were Wendell Monson, Lynn Elcock, Dale Thomas, Robert Hess, Kenneth Kent, Eugene Edwards, Bishop Melvin Yearsley offered the dedicatory prayer.
Burial at the St. John Cemetery was directed by Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Stephens was born May 22, 1887 at John(sic) to Thomas and Emma Morgans Stephens. He had lived here all of his life.
