Alvaretta Davis Rytting, 94, former Tremonton resident, died January 7, 1997 at the Woodland Park Care Center in Salt Lake City. She was born February 12, 1902 in Lewisville, Idaho, to Frank LeRoy and Alvaretta Harmon Davis. She married Andrew N. Rhyting August 18, 1925 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away January 10, 1986.
Alvaretta lived in Sugar City, Blackfoot and Malad, Idaho; Tooele, Salt Lake and Logan. She spent most of her years in Ephraim and Tremonton. She was a school teacher in her early years and co-publisher of the Ephraim Enterprise and Tremonton Leader with her husband.
Mrs. Rytting was a member of the Utah Pen Women, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was active in the PTA. She was chosen as 1986 “Mother of the Year” by the Tremonton Civic Club.
She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in all auxiliaries. She and her husband served an LDS Mission to Canada and were Temple Officiators in the Logan Temple.
She is survived by her children: Ruth Rytting Kunkel, Salt Lake City; Brent (Sheryl) Rytting, Denver, Colo; 15 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Guy A. (Belva) Davis, Idaho Falls, Idaho; three sisters: Rowena Davis (Oliver) Lee Camp Verde, Ariz.; Ollie Davis Wilcox, Layton; Phyllis Davis (Harry) Maulsby, Santa Ana, Calif.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lorry E. Rytting; one daughter, Bonnie Rytting Jones, three brothers, Frank L. Harmon and Walter Davis; three sisters, Caddie Davis Jenkins, Leota Davis Baird and Naomi Davis Park, and one grandson, Robert John Potter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 1997, 1 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 No. 100 E., with Bishop Harry L. McMurdie officiating. Friends may call Saturday prior to services from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations be made to the Tremonton City library in memory of Alvaretta Davis Rytting.
