Douglas Orr Rytting, 80, of 579 Filmore, died early Thursday, May 11, [1989] at his home following an extended illness.

He was born April 5,1909 at Lyman, to John Orvid and Maryett Orr Rytting. He moved to Pocatello with his family on his fifth birthday. He attended Whittier School, Franklin Jr. High and Pocatello High School.

As a boy he helped his parents in the operation of their livery stable at the 900 block on South Second. While he was growing up he also enjoyed horses and the rodeo.

He married DeeEtt Larsen Nov. 19, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Feb. 18, 1933.

He married Emma LaVon Stocking Aug. 25, 1935 in American Falls.

In 1927 he went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation Service, working on Several projects in the area, including the Minidoka Dam. In 1933 he began driving truck for Garrett Freight Lines and ran the route from Pocatello to Butte, Mont. From 1942 until his retirement in 1968 he worked for the Pocatello Fire Department.

He was also a carpenter and built many homes in the Pocatello area. He enjoyed camping, reading, gardening and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Arnold (LaVon) Lintelmann, Littleton, Colo.; Mrs. Lorraine Miller, Pocatello; Mrs. Gary (Sharren) Brown, Tustin, Calif.; Mrs. Dennis (Gloria) Hanners, Chubbuck; and Mrs. Steven (Connie) Teuscher, Chubbuck; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lyman, Ben, Thomas and Orvid; four sisters, Lorena, Mary, Janice and Ella; a grandson, Travis Teuscher; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Brown.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Pocatello LDS 15th Ward Chapel, 1440 Lakeview Drive with Bishop Robert Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel. On Monday friends may call at the 15th Ward Chapel for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
