Leah Goodey Ravsten, 85, a life-long resident of Clarkston, passed from this mortal life at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at the Pioneer Nursing and Rehab Center in Brigham City. She was the third child of Joseph Daniel and Sylvia Olive Thompson Goodey, born June 15, 1912 in Clarkston. She married Lester Ravsten on September 14, 1929 in Logan. Their marriage was solemnized on November 18, 1931 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died on September 6, 1982.
To this union was born five sons whom she loved: Scott A. (LaReeda) Ravsten of Tremonton; Juddy Larry (Helen) Ravsten of Malad, Idaho; Clinton “Tip” (Lola) Ravsten of Tremonton; Joe C. (Kathy) Ravsten of Clarkston; Danny L. (Carol) Ravsten of Tremonton, Lester and Leah are the progenators of 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sisters, Ines Godfrey of Clarkston, Ciotell Childs of North Ogden; Ramona Halford of Preston, Idaho and a brother, Elmo (Shirley) Goodey of Logan.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; a brother and sister who died in their first year, Blanche and Verl; a brother, Farrell Goodey, two grandsons, Lester Merlin Ravsten and Larry Allen Ravsten; a granddaughter, Shirley Ann Ravsten Doutre; and a great-grandson, Clifford Doutre.
Following Lester’s retirement Leah and Lester spent many hours in the Logan Temple doing work for the dead. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping with her husband, sons and their families and with many other friends.
Her greatest treasures were her husband, her children and their families. She was happiest when they were happy and doing well. She will be dearly missed, but the family knows there is rejoicing beyond the veil.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, December 1, 1997 in the Clarkston First Ward Chapel, 25 East 100 South, Clarkston, with Bishop Norris K. Arnold conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, November 30, 1997 at Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North in Logan and Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.
