SERVICES SATURDAY FOR JOSEPH HAMILTON PARRIS
Funeral services were conducted in the Downey Second LDS Ward Saturday for Joseph Hamilton Parris, 74, who died Tuesday [Jun 25, 1963] at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Parris, the father of Mrs. John (Velda[sic] Jene[sic]) Mulder[sic] of Malad, was born July 6, 1888 in Wilmont[sic], N.C., son of Lebo Francis and Mary Ellen Wike[sic] Parris. When he was four the family came west with a company of Latter-day Saints and settled in Marsh Center. He had lived there most of his life until six years ago when he moved to Downey.
Mr. Parris was married to Patricia Maude Hickman, Feb. 18, 1909 in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death Feb. 19, 1942. He married Faye Reimann[sic] Aug. 27, 1948, in Pocatello.
Mr. Parris was a member of the Marsh Valley Cattlemen’s Association. He also had been overseer on the Bannock County Road Dept. and watermaster[sic] for Marsh Center.
A high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had served as superintendent of the Sunday School in Arimo.
Survivors include his wife, three sons, Verl, Pingree; Lyn, Firth; Melvin, Lava Hot Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Velda[sic] Jene[sic] Mulder[sic], Malad; Mrs. Neva Denton, Wendell; Mrs. Donna Ruby Brown, Anaheim, Calif.[California]; one step-son, Edward C. Reimann[sic], Arimo; step-daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hadley, Emeett[sic], and Mrs. Harold Wilson, Oakland, Calif.[California]; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Andrew, Pocatello; Lee, Blackfoot; Dave, McCammon; Oliver, Virginia; Archie, Downey; Raymond, Tooele, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Glover, Pocatello; Mrs. Verna Cottrell, Mackay.
Among those from Malad attending the services were Margaret Hill, Wanda Thorpe, Verla[sic] Hill, Ruth Chugg, June Leavitt.
