W.WENDELL PALMER

W. Wendell Palmer died April 1, in Salt Lake

W. Wendell Palmer, 79, longtime resident of Burley, died Saturday, April 1, [1978] in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

He was born July 30, 1898 in Malad, the son of William H. and Catherine Jones Palmer. He attended schools in Malad and graduated from the University of Idaho at Moscow.

Mr. Palmer married Gladys Brown, she preceded him in death. He married Mary B. Evans at Elko on April 2, 1932. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Mr. Palmer taught school for a few years, then was County Agent for Cassia County for 17 years. He later worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Bemidji, Minnesota. Mr. Palmer retired in 1961 and returned to Burley, where he has since resided. He was a veteran of World War I. He was an Elder in the LDS church.

Surviving are his widow of Burley; three daughters and one son, Mrs. Gladys Jean Sullivan, Fremont, Calif.; Mrs. Gayle Davis, Centerville, Ut.[Utah]; Mrs. Susanne Van Wagenen[sic], Fresno, Calif.; James Wendell Palmer, Redmond Washington; two brothers and four sisters; Ernest Palmer, Boise; Jenkin Palmer, Boise; Mrs. Della Means, Boise; Mrs. Viola Redford, Caldwell, Id.[Idaho]; Mrs. Marie Petty, Downey, Id.[Idaho]; Mrs. Kathryn Pearl, Great Neck, New York; 15 grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICE

Funeral service were conducted Wednesday, Aril 5, at the Burley 3rd, 5th and 7th Ward LDS Church with Bishop Newel Nelson officiating. Interment was at the Malad City Cemetery.
