Joseph Palmer, age 89, dies after illness
Joseph Palmer, age 89, died July 29th in the Oneida County Hospital of a short illness.
He was born July 16, 1886 in Malad, a son of Joseph and Maria Gardner Palmer.
He married Ella Colton April 12, 1911 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Palmer was a farmer, active member of the LDS Church; served a two and half year mission in the Southern States; a Stake Board member; and was president of the Y.M.M.I.A.
Survivors include his widow; one son and one daughter, George Palmer, Malad; Mrs. A. J. (Ella Jean) Thackeray, Ogden; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be noon Friday Aug. 1st in the Malad Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Phil Gillies[sic] officiating. Friends may call Benson Funeral Home Thursday evening and Friday before service. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
