William Nathan Cottrell (Birth 23 Nov 1906/Death 21 May 1981)

BLACKFOOT – William Nathan Cottrell, 74, died from an apparent heart attack at Bingham Memorial Hospital Thursday. (21 May 1981)

He was born Nov. 23, 1906, in Marsh Valley to William Joshua and Mary Elena Treasure Cottrell. He spent his boyhood there and graduated from Downey High School.

On Jan. 1, 1930, he married May Elizabeth Mulder in Malad. Their vows were further solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on Feb. 28, 1978. They made their home in Marsh Valley until 1941 when they moved to Blackfoot.

He farmed all his life and also worked in the potato cellars at American Potato Co. and for the Bingham County Road and Bridge Department.

He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved working with soil, his horses and cattle, snowbiling (sp. snowmobiling), hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his widow; three sons and a daughter, William J. and Don Lee Cottrell, Blackfoot; Kenneth M. Cottrell, San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Rex (Elena Ruth) Fuller, Pocatello; six sisters, Mrs. Iva Lue McElmoyl, Mrs. Wanda Hunt and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Green, all of Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Joe (Ada) Kingsbury, Boise; Mrs. Verne (Norma) Adams, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Al (June) Reber, Eugene, Ore., 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, and a brother, Morgan.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rose Ward LDS chapel with Bishop Lovell Callister officiating. Friends may call at Packham Mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Groveland cemetery.
