Early Resident of Valley Passes Away

Funeral services for Mosiah Moon,91, who died at Logan Thursday, Feb. 9, 1948 were held at the Malad Second Ward LDS chapel at 1 p.m. Saturday with T.A. John, Bishop of Cherry Creek Ward, presiding.

Leo Williams offered the prayer at the home and Ellis Harris and Verl Moon offered the prayers at the church. The prelude and postlude were played by Wesley Crowther and Guy Benson dedicated the grave. Joseph A. Jones and I.D. Zundel were the speakers. The musical numbers consisted of vocal duet by Mesdames. Wanda Napier and Fay Hanson, accompanied on the piano by Wesley Crowther and on the violin by Mrs. Fern Willie. Howell Williams and Stillman Harris also rendered vocal solos. The obituary was given by Bishop T. A. John.

Mr. Moon, the son of Hugh and Elizabeth Kemmish Moon, was born at Salt Lake City, Sept. 22, 1856. He came to Mald Valley in 1870. At 16 years of age he started freighting from Corinne, Utah to Butte, Montana. Later he became a farmer and stock raiser in which occupations he engaged until about three years ago when he retired and moved to Logan.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Helen Clark, and Mrs. Julia Ward, Malad, one brother, Lorum Moon, Malad; two half-brothers Wm. C. Bell, Malad, and Loyd Moon, Egin, Idaho. Two other brothers have also recently passed away. Joe Moon, 85, died Sept. 6, 1947 and Heber Moon, 79, died Nov. 17, 1947.
