Vera Harris Jones, 93, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995 at the Alterna Care in Pocatello.
She was born April 1, 1902, in Cherry Creek, Idaho, to Everett and Margaret Ann John Harris. She was the last survivor of the Harris family.
On Sept. 15, 1920, she married Verl D. Jones in Brigham City, Utah. They were married during Peach Days at Brigham. Vera and Verl had lived across the road from each other in Cherry creek.
They lived in Malad most of their lives, other than for a few years in American Falls and Pocatello. Verl passed away Jan. 13, 1991. Vera had lived at the Alterna Care in Pocatello for the past three years.
Vera was a excellent seamstress. She spent much time making clothes for their two daughters. Vera was a member of the LDS faith and was a primary teacher in her younger days. She had not worked outside of the home, and was always there when she was needed.
She is survived by one son and two daughters and their spouses; Sheldon and Faye Jones, lava Hot Springs; Reva and Bill Thorpe, Malad; and karma and Lynn Hawkins, Pocatello; 12 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, Bart Thorpe.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 1995 at noon in the Malad Third Ward Chapel, with Bishop Brad Thorpe, a grandson officiating.
Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad, on Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. And on Monday prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
