BERNARD A. JONES

Malad – Funeral services for Bernard A. Jones, 69, Malad businessman who died at his home here Saturday of a heart attack, will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Malad Second Ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was born at Malad September 12, 1881, a son of Amos Jones and Leah Parry Jones. He married Mary L. Jones Feb. 2, 1910. She died Aug. 10, 1950.

Mr. Jones had been a lifelong resident of Malad. He received his education in the Malad city schools and at the Utah State Agricultural College, Logan, Utah. He managed the Evans Co-op Store in Malad until 1923, when he and B. A. Totonce established the Jones and Totonce Hardward Company. In 1942 he became sole owner of this business which he and his sons were operating until the time of his death as the Jones Hardware Company.

He was a member of the Masonic and Woodman lodges and has been active in the civic affairs of the community.

Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Roland B., Richard Keith, and William T. Jones, Mrs. Edith Doutre and Mrs. Elaine Castleton, all of Malad; Mrs. Mabel Gabbott, Bountiful, Utah, Mrs. Lea Schutt, Seattle, Wash., Edward L. Jones, Phoenix, Ariz., and J. Blair Jones, who is serving a mission in Edmonton, Canada; the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Leah Hill, Nuela, Colo.; Mrs. Mary Evans, San Francisco; Mrs. Rose Lowry, Los Angeles; Isaac Jones, Pocatello, and Edward R. Jones of Malad.

Burial will be in the Malad Cemetery under the direction of the Malad Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the family home, 180 West Third North St. Monday evening and Tuesday until time of services.
